Getting Back to the Heart of Things!

This blog post is about my journey back to being grateful and taking control of my life. I was feeling like I needed to bring more balance and order in my life.

I am a Christian, wife, mother and I took on the task of being responsible for my kids education. Yes, I also homeschool my kids.

I am a woman who have dreams and a purpose and I started to pursue them as well. I am a self published Christian author. I’ve written 3 books,“Dare To Dream Big”, “25 Attitude “You Must Have for a Breakthrough” and “Extraordinary Single Lady”.

I am a certified Christian life coach, speaker and blogger. I have a lot on my plate, but I love it. I love that I have found out what God created me to do and that is to partner with him to see his daughters made whole in every area of their lives. But I have an evening greater calling, and that is to be a wife to Overere and a mom to Erica, Faith, Victoria, Blessing and Wisdom. I am also called to be Destine’s GeeGee. I am not ready to be called a grandmother yet, so I told my granddaughter to call me GeeGee.

In life, there will be a lot of things pulling for your time and attention but you have to know what is the most important in your life. For me, God is most important, then myself and then my family in that order and then everything else comes after that.

Myself after God because I am no good to anyone if I do not take care of myself first. I need to always be giving back to me, so I can give back to others that have been entrusted to me.

Some of my favorite me times and things I enjoy giving back to myself are, Lipton Green tea with honey or guava, reading and learning, spa treatment in the bath tub, spending fun quality time with my husband like going out to dinner and catching a great movie afterwards, traveling, praying and meditating, journaling, 30 minutes walks which I need to get back to, getting my hair done when its time, polishing my nails and toes, buying something for myself, having sweet fellowship and feeding my spirit man at Church and having social time with the ladies.

As women we want to be a part of everything and attend everyones gathering. But you have to decide what is truly important for you.

You must develop a relationship with the Holy Spirit so He can prompt you when you are taking on too many things in your life or when you are suppose to do something different than what you or other people think you are suppose to be doing.

Everyone has an agenda, but it is God’s agenda that should reign supreme in your life. But let me reveal this revelation. God has given us the ability to make wise decisions for ourselves. God requires us to follow after Jesus example on how we should conduct our lives. Jesus is the standard for us to pattern our life after, it is the blue print on how we are suppose to conduct ourselves with our family, friends, on our jobs and in the world. That is  one of the requirements to live a Christ centered life.

He has given you the free will to choose how you want your life to be. He will present things before you, but ultimately you must decide on what job to take, who to marry, where you want to live, which gifting and talents you want to develop, what type of car you want to drive, what kinds of attributes you want to display in the world, what house you want to live in and how you want to spend your days on earth.

The Bible is the road map for the best possible outcome to based your decisions on. The Bible is the true word of God, it is not to be taken lightly. It is prophecy in a book. It is God’s word to man, but God gave you free will, He left it up to you to do the choosing. The Holy Spirit is God’s helper, He will illuminate to you which way you should go if you develop a intimate trusting relationship with him. The Holy Spirit will speak to your heart and prompt you when it is something you should do or not be doing at this time if your life. Most Christians have not develop that relationship with the Holy Spirit. If you are born again, I would recommend you read this book by Benny Hinn called “Good Morning Holy Spirit” if you want to be born again pray this prayer.

Ladies, I know we want to have our cake and eat it too, but there is a price that comes with that. It takes careful thought and planning and great organization skills of which I am learning to develop everyday. I know everything is not going to be perfect, but perfect to me is having a peace of mind and living true within my heart, and being the change that I want to see and that starts with me.

All I was hearing in my spirit was get your house in order and that could mean different things for different people because we are all called to something different in life. Your struggle my be totally different from my struggles.

I was presented with an offer, that I might add, I asked God for, but after the offer was presented to me, all I heard was get your house order and organize in every are of your life. I heard 30 days.

I began working on it right way. The 1st thing I did, was write out a plan on how I was going to tackle all of my task that was set before. Before I can take on another obligation, I must do this 1st. Get my house in order.

I wrote a plan for decluttering every area in my home and this was not a surface plan. It was very detailed. I was not going to leave not one stone unturned. Sometimes we tackle the surface clutter that we see and neglect the clutter we can not see.

All of the hidden clutter I had to tackle was underneath the cabinets, inside the closets, inside the drawers, I no longer have a junk drawer because I assigned everything a place. Everything I had no use for, I donated it or I threw it away.

I tackled every room in my house and as I was cleaning and decluttering, I was making a list of all the things that needed fixed or mending.

I heard in my spirit, get a system for how you would keep it clean, and  do it the same way every time. I created me a system for every room and I created me an inventory list after every system of things that needed to be purchased for the upkeep of that particular room.

Sometimes our breakthroughs are attached to the things we are willing to give up. Sometimes our prosperity is attached to the things we are willing to implement and do. Sometimes clutter is an indicator of the things we are still holding on to, and sometimes God is just trying to make sure we lay a proper foundation before we build our house so it is not built upon a faulty foundation.

Today it has been a week since my purging and decluttering and I have 2 more rooms to tackle. I will complete them today. The laundry room and the basement.

While I was cleaning, I was thanking God for all of the blessings that are in my life. As I cleaned and decluttered each room, I realize how abundantly blessed I am.

I have clean running water, a warm bed to lay my head down on, heat on those cold nights, cover to keep warm, food in the refrigerator, an amazing husband that affords me the luxury of being a stay at home mom to our children, a home that is paid off, cars that are paid off and a whole host of other blessings.

As I have been extremely grateful, I have being noticing things showing up in my life, big blessing that reminds me of what God said in Matthew 6:25-34 KJV:

Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your Heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?

And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:” “And yet I say unto you, that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.”

“Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?” “Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?” “(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.” “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” “Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.”

I believe I am doing what I am suppose to be doing right now, It feels so in alignment. All I know is God is up to something good and I am excited to see what that is and I will keep you posted. But until then, what is God putting on your heart in this season of your life. Please do not say I don’t know. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you and began implementing it right away.
