Hello Beautiful,
It is that time of the year again. Where we homeschool mommas get excited about buying the new and shiny homeschool curriculum for our homeschoolers.
This year I will be homeschooling a 2nd, 4th, 5th and 10th grader. My highschooler is not included in this blog post and will get a seperate blog post for her curriculum picks for the 2021-2022 homeschool year.
I am simplifying our homeschool this year, I am only focusing on the areas my children need to dominate.
I will be using living books, hands on experiences, field trips, game schooling, online schooling, documentaries and educational videos for the rest of our subjects like, Bible, History, Science, Music, Gym, Health, Geography, Foreign Language and Art.
The areas I feel my homeschoolers need to dominate in are: Reading, Spelling, Math, Writing, and Grammar. These will be our core 5 that we will do 4 times a week.
We will get the other subjects in at least 3 times a week and even utilizing our weekends. They won’t even know their learning because it will be fun learning, and play. We will do hands on activities and educational documentaries, and field trips.
Let’s cut out all the fluff and jump right into it.

Math: IXL Learning is online. All of my homeschoolers will do math online this school year. I will buy math books for them to practice what they learn. They all need to take a diagnostic test so they can be placed where there are any learning gaps. They have math books I can buy that goes along with IXL Learning so I will be purchasing those books after they take their placement test.
Reading: 180 Days of Reading for my 2nd, 4th and 5th graders. A beautiful sister in Christ blessed my homeschoolers with these books.
She have an organization called Eve’s Bloom and she also creates learning binder for preschoolers-2nd grade homeschoolers, and African American History over at Destiny Creators.
We will be adding Abeka Handbook for reading phonics program and Basic phonics flash cards.

Spelling You See goes by level and not grades. My 4th grader just started reading fluently last year. I only focused on reading for her up until this school year.
